This is why people leave the city. This is where the rivers run wild and free, the roads wind their way through cool, quiet forests, and the blue Appalachians rise all around you in the morning mist. It's a hiker's dream, a paddler's paradise, and not half bad even when what you want to do is nothing more than sit on a cabin porch for a while and listen to the murmur of a stream.
      It's a place where small shops are filled with antiques and collectibles, arts and local crafts. And where small-town hospitality is absolutely real. The natives call it the Copper Basin, this small but adventure-packed corner where Tennessee meets Georgia and they both meet up with North Carolina.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the 4th Annual Copper Basin Easter Egg Hunt a rousing success. The TCBA event drew its biggest crowd ever on Saturday, March 22nd, with nearly 500 children and parents turning out at the West Tennessee Avenue Ballfield for the Egg Hunt. Special thanks to the Junior Board of Directors at United Community Bank for their assistance.

Next on the TCBA agenda is Copper Basin Bargain Day. The annual spring wholetown yard sale and sidewalk sale is scheduled for Saturday, May 10th from 9:00am to 3:00pm. To reserve a vending space call Linnea Hansen at 706-492-5541.

The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway has begun the 2008 season. View this year's schedule by clicking here. The Tennessee Valley Railroad's first trip to the Copper Basin is set for Saturday, March 29th. Amy Howell is now in charge of restocking and maintaining the TCBA's eight brochure racks. Amy will take care of distributing member's rack cards to the various locations, if you provide her with a supply of your literature. Call Amy at 423-548-5151 to arrange to drop off your rack cards.

The TCBA welcomes six new members this month. Cafe Mont Bleu, on Toccoa Ave. in McCaysville is now a member of the Association. Stop by and try their Gormet Coffee and Light Fare. The TCBA would like to also Welcome Weeping Willow Cabin Rentals located in Turtletown, Tennessee. There are several New Shops in town as well!
